Mayor Pro Tem
Elected:
11/02/2021
Term Expires:  11/2025

Cardi DeMonaco Jr was appointed to Eastpointe City Council in 2014, was elected in a 2015 Special Election, and then reelected in 2017. He is currently the City Council liaison to the Beautification Commission. He has achieved Level Two in the Michigan Municipal League’s Elected Officials Academy, and serves on the advisory board for the program. Before becoming a City Councilman, he was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Millennial Mayors Congress.

Each summer Cardi volunteers with the Muscular Dystrophy Association as a cabin leader at their summer camp. He also regularly gives blood, including when hosted at the fire station. Cardi managed part-time a small lawn maintenance and snow removal business The Maintenance Guy, and was an Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce member. When he can, he helps out at the Urban Seed, Beautification Commission litter clean ups, ReLeaf Michigan tree plantings, and participates in Friends of the Library events like trivia with local Jeopardy! champion Sandie Baker.

Cardi is a graduate of Eastpointe Community Schools, and the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He received a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, became a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, and was previously the Chair of the UM-Dearborn Alumni Society Board, and is still active with the College of Engineering and Computer Science advisory council. He is currently working at the Michigan Court of Appeals as a senior software developer. Previous to his career at the Michigan Court of Appeals, Cardi worked in the private sector as a software professional for nine years.

In his spare time, Cardi likes to listen to music, play drums, or play Pokemon GO. Previously he played drums in the band Flywheel, had gigs at local bars and restaurants such as the Hard Rock Cafe and Pub 1281, and recorded an album Transmission. He looks forward to the reconstruction of 9 Mile, as the downtown area in Eastpointe will be more walkable and friendly. He also looks forward to the end of the pandemic so that he can travel more with his wife Alysa Diebolt, who is a small business owner. Her business is Brick Town Glass, and she is a fused glass artist. Cardi has lived in Eastpointe since 1996, when he attended Kantner Elementary. He later attended Kelly Middle School and East Detroit High School (now Eastpointe High School).
